After securing the signing of Joan Garcia from RCD Espanyol, FC Barcelona are making significant progress in their bid to land Nico Williams.
An agreement over personal terms has already been reached with the Athletic Club winger, with the next step being the payment of his release clause – €58 million, rising to approximately €62 million adjusted for inflation.
Subsequently, Barcelona must also ensure that there is enough salary margin to register both their new signings in La Liga.
As such, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Barcelona believe that they can generate the financial fair play margin required to register Joan Garcia and Nico Williams through player exits already deemed transferable.
There had been suggestions that the La Liga champions might need to make one or two major sales in order to register the pair, but the club are confident that will not be necessary.

Barcelona strongly believe that the departures of players such as Ansu Fati, Pau Victor, Pablo Torre, Inaki Pena, Andreas Christensen, Oriol Romeu, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen will provide enough margin to register both Nico and Garcia.
The most complex case is that of Ter Stegen, who remains firm in his desire to see out his contract, which runs until 2028.
Meanwhile, Ansu Fati is reactivating talks with AS Monaco, though there is no agreement yet and salary negotiations are progressing slowly.
The rest of the players are actively seeking new destinations, but for now, there are no formal offers – only interest and a willingness to move.
Barcelona are confident that the exits of these players will free up the necessary salary space to register both Garcia and Nico.
While no major sale is planned, the case of Ronald Araujo could change that. From 1 July, his release clause will drop to €60 million for a 15-day window. However, this clause is unlikely to be activated unless the Uruguayan himself is open to leaving.
