It is no secret that Barcelona are actively pursuing reinforcements for their right-back position, and their latest target is Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu.

Now, according to a report from Fichajes, the Catalan club is preparing a €20 million offer for the Romanian defender as they look to address a long-standing weakness in their squad.

Ratiu has been one of La Liga’s standout full-backs this season, impressing with his combination of defensive resilience and attacking contributions.

The 26-year-old has developed into a reliable presence at Rayo Vallecano, demonstrating his ability to neutralise high-profile attackers such as Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha.

His performances have also been influential going forward, where he has contributed two goals and three assists in 27 appearances, making him one of the most complete full-backs in the league.

His rise has not gone unnoticed, with several Barcelona players even selecting him in their fantasy football teams, reflecting the high regard he holds among his peers.

Barcelona are very much interested

Despite his contract running until 2028 and a release clause of €25 million, reports indicate that a deal could be reached for around €12-15 million.

However, Barcelona are prepared to go beyond that valuation with a more ambitious €20 million offer, a figure that could make Ratiu the most expensive sale in Rayo Vallecano’s history.

Barcelona are eager to strengthen theirdefence with players who can offer both defensive stability and attacking support. Ratiu’s arrival, in that regard, could provide much-needed consistency.

Now, the outcome will depend on negotiations between the clubs and the player’s willingness to take on a bigger challenge at Camp Nou. If the deal materialises, it would mark another step in Barcelona’s squad rebuilding process.
