Barcelona preparing anniversary invite for Lionel Messi | OneFootball

The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have begun preparations to invite club icon Lionel Messi to an upcoming gala.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the situation.

Barcelona will late next month hold a historic celebration, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the club’s existence as a sporting entity.

The plan on the part of Joan Laporta and co. is to afford invitations to a whole host of club legends, in the hopes of a reunion for the ages at the Camp Nou.

One such figure who will be contacted comes in the form of the aforementioned Lionel Messi, whose relationship with the powers that be at Barca remains somewhat frosty, owing to his shock departure in the summer of 2021.

As per Relevo, though:

‘Barcelona’s idea is to ask him and other idols to participate by letter, inviting them to an extraordinary gala.’

Should Messi, or any other figure, not be available to attend, they will in turn be asked to forward a video message to the club.
