Barcelona’s win over Celta Vigo last night was massive on multiple fronts, including the standings and the team’s confidence just before the international break.
For starters, the Blaugrana cut the deficit with Real Madrid to just three points as Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick and Lamine Yamal’s goal sealed a 4-2 result.
More importantly, however, it handed Barcelona some much-needed confidence after months of sporting turbulence as the team showed better defensive solidarity, pressed as a unit and held off Celta for the entire second half with no chance conceded.
In a recent interaction with the media (h/t MARCA), Joan Laporta acknowledged the good result his team secured away at the Balaidos last night and the comfort that came with it just before the international break.
“This victory has come at an ideal time,” he said.
While he did accept that the win was an important one for the team, he concurrently admitted that consistency would be key heading forward.
“We have to keep it up. We have good feelings.”

Praising Hansi Flick and supporting him despite the topsy-turvy season the team have enjoyed so far, Laporta said,
“We have a coach who is a phenomenon.”
Finally, the president was asked to speak about Lamine Yamal and he did not hold back in praising the academy star who has now gone on to be hailed as one of the best players on the planet.
“I’ve seen him as always, a genius.”
With the international break now interrupting club football, Flick will look to re-draw his plans for the big spell that awaits after the hiatus.
Joan Garcia and Raphinha are expected to return to the dynamics after the break, and Flick will be desperate to have both players at his disposal once more.
Needless to say, the return of the duo and Pedri will go a long way in ensuring that Barcelona continue to maintain the momentum.
