FC Barcelona seem to be fully determined to sign Julian Alvarez this summer from Atletico Madrid. While the conditions that the Madrid-based club likely has will be difficult to meet, the Catalan giants remain convinced that a realistic deal can be finalized for the player at some point.

One man who seems to be involved in the whole operation is club president Joan Laporta. Having won the latest edition of the presidential elections, he remains determined to help the club moving forward and bringing in a top striker would certainly help.

In fact, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Laporta recently dropped some major hints regarding Barça’s pursuit of Alvarez while speaking to El Chiringuito. While he avoided naming the player directly, it seems obvious enough who he was talking about:

“It’s clear that dreams come true if you work and fight for them… The vast majority of players—and that makes us very proud—want to come to Barcelona.”

Referring to dreams in this context is not a random choice, because several reports have already claimed that Alvarez does dream of joining Barça. Moreover, Laporta went as far as to say that the club hopes to fulfill the dreams of players that want to join, yet another reference to the 26-year-old Argentinian forward:

“Hopefully we can fulfil the dreams of the players who want to come to Barcelona.”

As for his future plans for the club, Laporta made it clear that he hopes to help the Catalan club continue to achieve even greater things:

“We will continue making Barcelona greater as an institution. We’ll have a new stadium and a sporting project that will continue on the path to success.”

For now, it seems clear enough that Alvarez is looking for a way out and Barça are trying to find a way to facilitate his transfer from Atletico Madrid. However, it seems likely that this particular operation will end up being dragged out even further this summer.
