Barcelona president Joan Laporta travelled to Dubai last week together with several club executives to attend the Globe Soccer Awards gala.
The ceremony saw Barça bag awards in several categories, representing a successful evening for the Blaugrana.
However, apart from the awards ceremony, Laporta made use of the trip to hold some important meetings.
Indeed, according to SPORT, the Barcelona president spent New Year’s Eve in a private lounge at the Restaurant Milos Dubai with agents Pini Zahavi and Jorge Mendes.
The meeting took place just days before the opening of the winter transfer window and, although it was a friendly dinner, sources familiar with the gathering say that several football-related names were also discussed.

Mendes represents Joo Cancelo, who plays for Al-Hilal and is expected to leave this month to return to Europe.
Inter Milan have shown interest in his situation, and Barcelona have also made enquiries, although the operation is considered very difficult.
Cancelo earns a net salary close to €15 million per year, and any club wishing to sign him would need to assume a significant part of his wages. For the moment, Barcelona have not made progress on his signing, and his arrival appears unlikely.
Zahavi, for his part, has maintained a close relationship with Laporta for many years and represents Barcelona veteran Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker could leave this summer when his contract runs out, although his continuity is not ruled out. The player himself explained recently that his future will be decided later and that he will begin to think about it as the season progresses.
