With the end of the transfer window just around the corner, Barcelona find themselves in a precarious situation once more in terms of player registrations.

Three players remain unregistered as it stands – Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin and Roony Bardghji – all three of whom are players the manager counts on heavily as backups in various positions.

Completing the registrations before the end of the transfer window, thus, is the sole objective that the club offices are burning the midnight oil towards, and MARCA provide an update on the same.

Three plans in place

The Spanish outlet brings to light that of the three players, the registration of Szczesny is the most straightforward and will go through once the club finalises Inaki Pena’s renewal and loan departure, which is in its final stages now.

The reduction in space on the wage bill will be sufficient to register the goalkeeper, leaving two players to be registered in La Liga. Unfortunately, however, even the sales of Hector Fort and Oriol Romeu will not be sufficient on that front.

As it stands, Barcelona have three options to counter the issue at hand, the first of which is the validation of the operation to sell the rights of the VIP seats in the new Spotify Camp Nou.

While talks have been ongoing for a long time now, the proposed €100 million would give the club enough to return to the 1:1 rule and register both players, although it can only be used once the transaction is complete and funds are received.

There is no clarity on when the operation will go through, however, and this forces the club to consider the possible sale of a player as Plan B. Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez are seen as candidates to leave, but neither star is willing to depart.

The final option that Joan Laporta and Co. are considering is to put up a personal endorsement and register the players on that backing, as they have done before for Jules Kounde in the past.

It would be a guarantee of close to €5 million from the club administrators to ensure that the players are registered in time and can be part of the coach’s plans.
