As confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, the 20-year-old Swedish winger has now been registered by Barça with a first team number. That number just so happens to be the number ‘19’, the same one that Lamine Yamal and previously Lionel Messi used to wear.

Beyond just being a big step up for the player, this is also a showcase of faith by the club itself. After all, Roony has done nothing but impress this season after joining in the summer, and his recent display against Athletic Club was simply magical as well.

Moving forward, while he might not be Hansi Flick’s first-choice on the right wing, he remains a very important part of the squad. Given his quality, it is hardly surprising to see Barça take this step with him and it seems likely that he will continue to get more opportunities as well.

Fortunately, the club also did not have to make use of other leverages or levers of any kind to make this registration possible. For once, that is really good news for both the winger and Barcelona if they want to avoid complications.
