Barcelona have begun administrative steps to bid for the 2029 Champions League final at the Spotify Camp Nou, with renovation work that began in 2023 expected to be completed in 2027.
The club said in a statement that it intends to enter UEFA's initial bidding phase with the Barcelona City Council and the Catalan government, proposing Barcelona as host city and the stadium as the venue, subject to UEFA certification and approval, and with the support of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
The move forms part of a preliminary analysis and evaluation phase, with initial paperwork submitted so UEFA can assess the bid in line with established protocols.
The official final bid and complete dossier are scheduled to be filed in early June 2026.
If successful, it would be Camp Nou's first Champions League final in 30 years. The last was in 1999 when Manchester United beat Bayern Munich 2-1.
