Barcelona provide Julián Alvarez transfer update | OneFootball

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has provided a fresh update on the club’s ongoing pursuit of Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez.

This comes amid confirmation that, though the Blaugrana remain very much interested in the Argentine, an improved offer does not appear to be imminent.

The Camp Nou brass of course grabbed the headlines across Spain last month, in tabling an opening offer for Alvarez worth a hefty €100 million.

The proposal was knocked back by those in a position of power at the Metropolitano, who made clear that their star frontman is not for sale this summer.

Links between the parties, though, have nevertheless continued to circulate, owing in no small part to Alvarez’s determination to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Monday, the aforementioned Joan Laporta was therefore asked for the latest on the situation.

And Barcelona’s president went on to explain:

“We keep our first offer on the table. But the validity of it is not unlimited…”
