Ousmane Dembélé could be edging closer to the Ballon d’Or after an exceptional 2024-25 season with PSG. The French winger spearheaded their attack, helping the club secure a historic treble.
Early discussions about the award have highlighted Dembélé alongside Barcelona’s star Lamine Yamal. Dembélé delivered remarkable numbers, scoring 35 goals and providing 16 assists in 53 appearances, playing a key role in PSG’s Champions League success and domestic dominance.
Yamal also made a significant impact, recording 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 matches. His performances helped Barcelona capture the league title, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España, solidifying his spot in the Ballon d’Or conversation.

With the award being given out soon, players will be asked who should win the honor. The latest footballer to get this question is Inter Milan standout Lautaro Martinez. Moreover, the Argentine isn’t going with Dembélé or Yamal as he’s going with a veteran player from the Premier League.
“Many had a great season, winning numerous titles. Paris has quite a few nominees (nine), and one of them could take it—Hakimi, Dembélé… Otherwise, I really like Mohamed Salah,” Martinez told L’Equipe and France Football (h/t Le10Sport).
“But it depends on how everything is evaluated, because he had an excellent season in the Premier League, which he won, and he’s really an interesting player.”
