The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday come to a final decision on a potential move for Croatian veteran Ivan Perišić.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
For those who may have missed it, the name of former Tottenham and Inter Milan man Perišić has found its way into the headlines in Barcelona across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the experienced attacker was being taken into consideration as a shock signing on the part of the Blaugrana.
Deco and co. remain on the lookout for reinforcements on the left wing, after coming up short in their pursuit of priority target Nico Williams.
After Perišić came to an agreement on the termination of his contract with Hajduk Split, it was in turn claimed that Hansi Flick – under whom the Croatian played at Bayern Munich – had made contact, over the possibility of a reunion in La Liga.
If the latest word to have surfaced in Spain this evening is anything to go by, however, then as much is not on the cards:
‘According to sources consulted by SPORT, Ivan Perišić will not be a Barça player. The club claims that the signing of the 35-year-old is not a real option and directly rules out any possibility of signing Perišić under Hansi Flick.’
