Barcelona’s plans for the summer transfer window are beginning to take shape.

According to a recent report from SPORT, the Catalan club has not rushed into a decision.

Instead, they have carried out a detailed internal review, assessing every possible angle before leaning towards a clear outcome.

The report states that Barcelona have studied all the pros and cons and have also analysed potential market opportunities before reaching the conclusion that signing Marcus Rashford permanently is the most sensible option.

That decision has not come out of nowhere, as Rashford’s impact since arriving has been immediate and difficult to ignore.

Thrown straight into the starting line-up due to Raphinha’s injury, the English forward had no luxury of time to settle. Yet he adapted quickly, showing personality and confidence in high-pressure matches.

Initially, there were doubts within the club’s hierarchy. Deco and his recruitment team wanted to see consistency before committing financially.

However, Deco and his associates were not sure from the beginning that they would exercise the €30 million purchase option.

Logically, they had to analyse how the Briton’s first few months in Barcelona were going and whether he was regaining some of the aura and spark he had lost in recent seasons.

And the truth is that the balance is very positive. Not only because of the 10 goals and 12 assists he has already recorded, but also because of the sensations he has created.

The report further underlines the club’s stance, stating,

‘Barça have weighed up the pros and cons, analysed the options on the market, and come to a clear conclusion: the €30 million asking price for Rashford (they will try to lower that amount, although it will not be easy) is the most sensible move for Barça’s interests.’
