Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez continues to generate headlines, and the latest reports coming from Argentina have provided fresh encouragement for the Catalan club’s ambitions.
According to information from Argentine outlet DSports Radio, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Alvarez have already reached an agreement over a five-year contract.
While no deal has been struck with Atletico Madrid at this stage, the report claims that the player has given the green light to a long-term project at Camp Nou.
The development arrives at a time when Barcelona remain committed to signing the Argentine international despite facing constant resistance from Atletico Madrid throughout the summer.
As reported by the outlet, Barcelona have already completed an important part of the operation by securing an agreement with the player himself.

The report suggests that Alvarez has accepted the idea of joining Barcelona on a contract that would run for five seasons, even though convincing Atletico Madrid remains an entirely different challenge.
It must be noted that Barcelona have already made significant efforts to test Atletico’s resolve, including a reported offer worth €100 million.
However, that proposal was not enough to persuade the Madrid club, who continue to insist that the striker is not for sale.
In fact, club president Enrique Cerezo recently reinforced Atletico’s position when discussing Alvarez’s future.
“Julian is an Atlético player and will remain so for many years to come,” he said.

Despite those public declarations, the latest information from Argentina claims negotiations could eventually be completed for a fee between €120 million and €125 million, although no agreement between the two clubs currently exists.
While the latest report offers optimism for Barcelona, the reality is that conflicting information continues to emerge from different sources.
Only recently, reports in Spain suggested that Alvarez had agreed to improved salary terms with Atletico Madrid, a development that appeared to strengthen the club’s chances of keeping hold of their star forward.
The latest claims from Argentina point in the opposite direction, suggesting the player has already chosen Barcelona as his preferred destination.
Hence, until a real breakthrough occurs between the two clubs, Alvarez’s future remains one of the biggest unresolved stories of the summer transfer window.
