Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz is making waves with the Spanish national team. As a result, RMC Sport’s Daniel Riolo believes that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are serious suitors for the standout.

After turning heads at UEFA Euro 2024, he’s carried his strong form into the UEFA Nations League this past FIFA international window. Ruiz was the standout performer in Spain’s match against Switzerland on Sunday night at Stade de Genève.

The 28-year-old scored twice, with goals in the 13th and 77th minutes, leading Spain to another victory. Although Ruiz, under contract until 2027, is an important part of Spain’s squad, he hasn’t yet secured a regular starting spot at PSG.

This has led to speculation that Barcelona and Real Madrid might take an interest, potentially offering him a more prominent role than he currently has at PSG.

“I remind you that there are quite a few clubs that are interested in Fabian Ruiz,” Riolo said on After Foot RMC (h/t Le10Sport). “Even for this winter. Even if there have been denials, I wonder if Fabian Ruiz will not be seduced by a return to Spain in one of the two big clubs. It would be a real failure for PSG.

“He must be a leader at PSG and we must not lose him. There are signals that concern me about Barça insisting on recruiting him, about the idea that Fabian Ruiz would like to go to Real.”

This week, Diario Sport revealed that Barcelona are considering a move for Ruiz and could potentially include Frenkie De Jong in a deal with PSG. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops when the January window opens in a few months.
