During the January transfer window, FC Barcelona roped in young forward Hamza Abdelkarim on loan from Egyptian club Al Ahly.
The 18-year-old striker has made a big impression within the academy, prompting the club to make his signing permanent at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the Catalans continue to keep an eye on the African market for more young jewels to strengthen their academy, having sent scouts to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
In that regard, SPORT reports that Barcelona are closely monitoring teenager Ibrahim Rabbaj, who impressed at the tournament for the Moroccan U-17 national team.

The 17-year-old is not an unknown name, as he has already been impressing within Chelsea’s youth setup in England, even earning the nickname “the Moroccan Messi.”
Rabbaj is considered an extremely gifted attacker. He can operate on either wing and is known for his technical quality in tight spaces.
The teenager is described as a player with exceptional flair, capable of scoring goals and possessing strong vision to create chances for his teammates.
His recent performances in Morocco have further strengthened his reputation, with many considering him the standout player of Africa’s U-17 level.
Rabbaj, who joined the Chelsea academy from Crystal Palace, has managed five goals and six assists from 20 games in all competitions for the Blues’ youth team this season.
And, as per the report, along with Barcelona, their chief rivals, Real Madrid, are also closely monitoring Rabbaj.
The two Spanish giants could potentially make a move from January 2027 onwards, when he turns 18 and may have greater possibilities of changing clubs.
