Barcelona receive bad news in latest Harry Kane transfer update | OneFootball

Barcelona are hoping to sign a new star striker in 2027. They failed to sign top target Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid after a summer-long pursuit, and while he is still their preferred option, others are being strongly considered by the club’s sporting department.

One of those is Harry Kane. The England international is out of contract at the end of the season, and Barcelona sense an opportunity to sign him if he does not extend his stay with Bayern Munich – although that possibility is looking less and less likely.

Christian Falk has reported that Kane’s representatives have held new talks with Bayern in the last few days. There is an expectation that an agreement will be reached in the coming weeks/months, which would end Barcelona’s chances of bringing him to the Spotify Camp Nou.

“The second round of contract negotiations with Harry Kane (and Bayern) have begun.The talks have been going on since the weekend. At Elversberg, it’s a really small stadium; they’re rebuilding, which is why there are fewer than 10,000 fans in the stands. So, you can spot any prominent faces in the crowd, and in this case, Pat and Charlie Kane were seen in the stadium. But it wasn’t just a family trip. They’re in Germany at the moment to discuss with Bayern bosses whether there’ll be a new contract for Harry Kane. Both sides are really optimistic that he’ll sign a new deal. It’s clear that it won’t be fewer than two years – minimum to 2029. But Harry Kane could imagine signing a longer deal.

“Perhaps if it’s a longer contract, they’ll have to discuss whether it needs to be a little less. There are other ideas, like whether there needs to be a release clause, as Kane had in his old contract (where he had until January to trigger it). However, he never ended up activating this, as he’s feeling so happy in Munich. It’s just not true that he’s discussing any options with other clubs.”

Striker search has been – and will continue to be – difficult

So far this season, Barcelona have not lacked a star striker, with Raphinha having been outstanding since being moved into a central position (eight goals and three assists in six appearances). Nevertheless, there is a strong desire to give Hansi Flick a natural option, which is why the likes of Alvarez and Kane are being pursued.

Kane would be a sensational signing if he were to be picked up as a free agent, but that is not realistic at this stage. He appears to be very happy at Bayern, and it would be a surprise if he did not end up signing a new deal soon. If so, it would be another blow for Barcelona in their striker search.
