Barcelona receive tempting €10m offer to play a friendly in South Korea | OneFootball

Barcelona’s global appeal continues to pay dividends, but it is now presenting the club with a tricky decision ahead of a crucial summer. 

According to recent reports from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have received a highly lucrative proposal to play a friendly match in South Korea, one that could bring in between €9 million and €10 million.

It is the latest in a growing list of offers, as clubs and organisers are increasingly willing to pay premium fees to host the Catalan giants, but accepting such offers is far from straightforward.

Logistical problems

As such, the South Korea proposal, while financially attractive, comes with logistical complications. 

The journey alone would be demanding, especially considering that Barcelona are not planning a traditional Asian tour this summer. 

Instead, the club has already scheduled a focused training camp at St. George’s Park, the headquarters of the Football Association near Birmingham. 

The decision has been taken in accordance with the FIFA World Cup, as the first team will miss several stars during this period.

As a result, flying across continents for a single match could disrupt those carefully laid plans.

There are other offers

Beyond South Korea, Barcelona are also weighing up other appealing opportunities. 

A proposal from Peru is already on the table, offering between €7 million and €8 million, while another option in Morocco could bring in around €5 million, albeit with less certainty at this stage.

Perhaps the most intriguing sporting option, however, is a potential clash against Napoli at the iconic Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on August 1. 

Unlike the other proposals, this fixture would offer strong competitive value, giving Barcelona a serious test just weeks before the start of La Liga.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that Barcelona have already shown they are willing to turn down offers when necessary. 

Last year, they rejected a €5 million opportunity to play a friendly in Libya, citing security concerns.
