Barcelona receive warning over Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel

Keeping in line with their celebrated tradition of youth talent acquisition and development, FC Barcelona continue to be linked with some of the most promising talents emerging around the world. In recent days, one of the players who has remained in their orbit particularly prominently is the young English forward, JJ Gabriel.

The youngster has reportedly asked the Red Devils to let him leave, and as a result, is being linked with some of the top clubs across Europe. In addition to the Blaugrana side, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with him.

Being one of the most promising talents in Europe, there is no doubt that he would be a good addition to any team. However, there are also some doubts surrounding Gabriel that would naturally make clubs pursuing him somewhat hesitant.

As SPORT has reported, these doubts were aired by the former Manchester United scout Mick Brown, who recently spoke to Football Insider. The former scout believed that the Premier League side would be better off without the youngster:

“There is a feeling, of course, that Manchester United might perhaps be better off without JJ Gabriel. Regardless of his obvious talent, this situation has cast doubt on his character and that of the people around him. Is that the kind of player you want to have at the club?”

Brown also pointed to a somewhat distant relationship between Gabriel and his teammates:

“When someone scores, everyone runs over to him, jumps around and hugs him. But sometimes, when JJ Gabriel has scored, yes, they go over to celebrate with him, shake his hand and then all trot back. He doesn’t seem to receive the same reception.”

The former Red Devils scout reiterated his belief that the forward’s departure might actually benefit United:

“It’s a matter of arrogance and attitude… It’s a shame, and perhaps I’m reading too much into it. But it reinforces the idea that perhaps they are better off without him.”

In addition to their quality on the pitch, another aspect that has characterized Barcelona in recent years is the good atmosphere in the dressing room. In such a context, the Blaugranes would be seriously considering these doubts surrounding the Englishman, and it remains to be seen whether they will make a move for him.
