Barcelona have not entirely abandoned their pursuit of young Portuguese midfielder Dario Essugo, despite facing setbacks in their attempts to bring him to the club, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Essugo, who is currently playing for Las Palmas on loan from Sporting CP, has been on Barcelona’s radar for some time.
The 19-year-old has been putting in impressive performances this season, which has only increased his appeal to Barcelona as they look to strengthen both their first team and reserve squad.
Barcelona are always keen to discover young talents who could enhance the team in the future, and Essugo is one player they have closely monitored.
While he is currently playing for Las Palmas, the rights to his contract are still owned by Sporting CP, who loaned him out to gain valuable experience and game time.

This season, Essugo has been impressing with his performances, catching the attention of major clubs, including Barcelona.
Earlier this summer, Barcelona made an offer to Sporting CP to secure Essugo’s services. They proposed a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, but Sporting CP rejected the offer.
The Portuguese club, however, did not accept the structure of the deal and declined the proposal.
Despite this setback, Barcelona have not given up on their interest in the young midfielder. They are still very keen on securing his signature and are expected to make another attempt to sign him in the future.
Barcelona’s interest in Essugo shows their commitment to building a strong squad with promising players for the years ahead. The club believes that Essugo could be a valuable addition to their midfield, with his potential being a key factor in their ongoing pursuit.
While the road to signing him may not be straightforward, Barcelona are determined to continue their efforts to bring the talented midfielder.
