Barcelona have rejected the opportunity to sign both Dusan Vlahovic and Bernardo Silva this summer, despite both players being offered to the club in recent weeks.

According to journalist Sique Rodriguez from Cadena SER, Barcelona’s sporting department evaluated both situations before deciding not to move forward with either operation at this stage.

The update arrives during a crucial summer for the Catalan side, who are searching for reinforcements following Robert Lewandowski’s decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

Because of that situation, Barcelona’s priority remains signing a new centre-forward.

Straight ‘no’ to Vlahovic

The Serbian forward’s contractual situation has generated uncertainty at Juventus, and his representatives explored the possibility of a move to Barcelona.

The striker’s entourage approached Barça with the idea of a favourable operation. However, Barcelona’s response was a clear no.

Although the club appreciate Vlahovic’s quality and recognise him as an interesting option, he is currently not viewed as a priority target.

As such, Barça believe there are other attacking profiles ahead of him on their shortlist.

What about Bernardo Silva?

The situation involving Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva followed a very similar pattern.

The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with Barcelona repeatedly over recent years, with many within the club admiring his technical quality, versatility and intelligence on the ball.

This summer, the possibility of signing him emerged once again after his name was offered to Barcelona’s hierarchy.

However, despite the admiration for the player, Barça have no intention of prioritising a move for him right now.

The reason appears is that the club believe their midfield is already sufficiently covered, meaning resources need to be directed towards other positions instead.

Just like Vlahovic, Barcelona acknowledged Bernardo’s level and importance but ultimately decided that strengthening the attack and other key areas is currently more urgent.
