The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona knocked back a transfer offer from the Middle East during the final days of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Luis Rojo of Marca, who points towards Iñigo Martínez as the subject of the bid in question.
Stopper Iñigo of course saw his future thrown very much up in the air over recent months, amid claims that, in the face of a suitable proposal, the 33-year-old could be shipped off.
The former Athletic Club standout, however, has since gone on to establish himself as a leading figure in the backline of new head coach Hansi Flick.
And as much is likely to have played a key role in Barcelona rebuffing an offer for his services as the transfer deadline approached.
As per the aforementioned Luis Rojo:
‘At the end of the market, Barcelona received an offer of €5 million from an Arab club for the transfer of Íñigo Martínez.’
Deco and the Camp Nou brass, however, ultimately opted to reject the proposal at hand.
