UEFA has recently confirmed that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has been handed a one-match ban for his conduct during Barcelona’s match against Inter Milan in last season’s UEFA Champions League semifinal.
The German coach was deemed guilty of breaching the general principles of conduct (Article 11(1) DR) and violating the basic rules of decent conduct (Article 11(2)(b) DR).
Flick’s assistant, Marcus Sorg, also received the same penalty, in addition to a fine, meaning both of them will not be available on the bench during Barcelona’s next UCL game.
Despite confirming the sanction, UEFA did not clearly state why they have found Flick’s actions to be in breach of any rules and regulations.
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona have requested UEFA to list the reason behind Flick and Sorg’s one-match suspension from UEFA Club Competitions.

This is according to RAC 1, which suggests that the Catalans will take a call on whether or not to file an appeal against UEFA’s sanctions only after listening to the reasons.
The clash at the San Siro, which saw Barça eliminated, was already marred by controversy over refereeing decisions.
Although Flick was not sent off during the game, in the closing minutes, he lost his temper and struck his bench in frustration.
Flick later suggested that referee Szymon Marciniak’s decisions had gone against his team.
UEFA has also fined Flick €20,000 for misconduct, while Barcelona as a club face two further penalties – €5,250 for objects thrown from the stands and €2,500 for flares.
Now, all eyes will be on UEFA and their response to Barcelona’s request. If the Blaugrana find the reasons to be viable, they are not expected to appeal against the decision.
