The name of youngster Bernal has reemerged as a prominent one in the media chatter in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.

As much comes after it was reported that Barca’s city rivals Girona were expressing a keen interest in bringing the Spaniard in on loan for the 2nd half of the campaign.

Bernal has found game time somewhat difficult to come by across the season to date, amid his ongoing recovery from an ACL injury.

Girona, in turn, are understood to be ready to offer the talented midfielder an important role following the turn of the year.

As alluded to above, however, Barcelona have since responded, and in unwavering fashion.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Sources at FC Barcelona, when asked about the possibility of Bernal leaving on loan in January, completely ruled it out.’
