Barcelona sell Héctor Fort to Real Sociedad, buy-back and sell-on retained | OneFootball

Barcelona said in a statement they have sold full-back Héctor Fort to Real Sociedad, with the 20-year-old signing a contract until 30 June 2031.

The Catalan defender was not in Hansi Flick’s plans and had been training separately in recent weeks while his future was resolved.

No fee was disclosed, though Barcelona retained a buy-back option and a percentage of any future sale.

Héctor Fort, born in Barcelona in 2006, joined La Masía in 2013 and rose through the academy before making his first-team debut in 2023 in the Champions League against Antwerp.

He made 30 senior appearances before spending last season, 2025-26, on loan at Elche, where he recorded three goals and two assists in 17 matches.

Fort is a versatile defender who can operate at right-back, his natural role, and on the left, noted for his pace on the flank and his arrival in the box.
