It is known that Barcelona have identified Julian Alvarez as one of their top attacking targets, but financial reality continues to keep the Blaugrana away from the Argentine.

In this regard, according to a report from AS, Barcelona have set a maximum valuation of around €50 million for the Atletico Madrid forward.

While this figure certainly remains way off, the outlet assures that any attempt to bridge the gap between the two clubs could involve a player exchange, rather than a purely cash-based transfer.

For that matter, Ferran Torres is one name who could be included, as the Spaniard is admired within the Rojiblancos setup.

A need for a striker

Back to Alvarez, he is highly rated within Barcelona’s sporting structure and is viewed as a strong candidate to lead the attack in the post-Lewandowski era.

However, Barcelona have made it clear they will not compromise their financial stability for any single signing.

Atletico Madrid, on their part, are unwilling to entertain offers below €100 million. This creates a significant gap between both parties, one that currently makes a transfer highly unlikely.

The situation is further complicated by Alvarez’s contractual conditions. His release clause stands at €500 million, and Atletico are also working to secure his long-term future with a renewal offer.

These factors strengthen their negotiating position and reduce the likelihood of a discounted deal.

Barcelona not entirely out

Despite these obstacles, Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation.

There is a certain awareness within the club that external factors, including the player’s own intentions, could influence how the story develops.

In fact, reports suggest that Alvarez is attracted to the idea of playing at the Spotify Camp Nou, although he has remained cautious publicly when discussing his future.

For now, Barcelona will remain patient, meaning the club is not expected to make aggressive moves unless there is a clear shift in circumstances, either from Atletico Madrid or the player himself.
