With the 2025-26 season over, FC Barcelona fans, and other followers of football in general, can start focusing their attentions on the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. Most of the national teams have already finalized their squad lists for this tournament, while the few remaining are expected to do so in the coming days.

In this latter category are Ronald Araujo, who is expected to make it to Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguayan national team, and Frenkie de Jong, who is expected to be called up by Ronald Koeman for his Dutch national team.

If these two players are called up, Mundo Deportivo notes that the number of Barcelona players going to this World Cup would lie at 15, thus making this World Cup the second top in history in terms of Blaugrana players participating.

The Qatar World Cup in 2022, had the highest number of Barcelona players, i.e., 17, more than 14 in 2018, and 13 in 1998, 2010, and 2014.

In addition to Joan Garcia, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal, who have been named in Spain’s list, other Barcelona players participating in the World Cup are: Jules Kounde (France), Joao Cancelo (Portugal), Raphinha (Brazil), Marcus Rashford (England), and Hamza Abdelkarim (Egypt).
