FC Barcelona were perhaps fortunate to secure a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in the Champions League, but that puts them in a very decent position for the second leg against the Magpies at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Now, as per SPORT, Hansi Flick is expected to make a couple of important tweaks in the starting lineup when they face Newcastle United in the decisive second leg.
After the 1-1 draw at St James’ Park, Hansi Flick made it clear that his side will need to improve if they are to get the job done at home. The German coach admitted after the first leg that Barcelona lost the ball too often and promised that supporters would see a different team in the return match.
Flick is now expected to introduce two changes to the side. One of them is likely to come in defence, where Eric Garcia is tipped to return to the starting lineup after being managed carefully following an overload. The Spaniard is expected to start at right-back, replacing Ronald Araujo.
The other likely adjustment is further forward, where Dani Olmo is likely to pip Fermin Lopez to a starting berth. That would see Olmo operate just behind the frontline, with Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal leading the attack.
There is also the morale boost of having Gavi back, even if the Spaniard is unlikely to be able to play many minutes. What this means is that if everyone can keep their fitness between now and the game, Flick will have a better roster to depend on than he did back in St. James Park.
