Barcelona are always alert to the young, up-and-coming talents popping up within Spain as well as outside.
The Catalans have been strengthening their youth ranks so as to produce stars from within La Masia especially given their delicate financial situation.
It has led to Barça monitoring and signing a number of youth prospects in recent times with another South American talent said to have now caught their attention.
Indeed, according to reports relayed by SPORT, Barcelona are one of the clubs monitoring teenage striker Alex Woiski, who plays for the RCD Mallorca youth team.
The Mallorca-born footballer has been in the news recently after he was called up to represent Argentina in the South American Under-20 Championship.
Woiski’s journey at Mallorca began at the age of seven, when scouts from the club first spotted the young talent.
Throughout his career in their youth divisions, he has stood out for his goal-scoring ability, with the report claiming that he has scored nearly 500 goals during his time in Mallorca’s academy.
However, his breakout moment came last season, when he played a key role in winning the Juvenil Copa del Rey, scoring four goals in the final.
This achievement caught the attention of major clubs like Barcelona, as well as Argentina’s national team coach, Lionel Scaloni, who knows Woiski well as he resides in Mallorca.
The young prospect is highly sought after in the transfer market, as his contract is set to expire in June 2025, and he has not reached an agreement to renew with RCD Mallorca after being dissatisfied with the club’s terms.
Barcelona are already likely to sign Marc Domenech, another exciting young talent from the Mallorca youth setup. And Woiski, who is admittedly a Lionel Messi fan, could also follow suit.
