FC Barcelona are entering the most exciting and crucial phase of the season, still competing for all three big titles, and there is no doubt that the Catalan club will be fully occupied with this last stretch of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the Blaugranes are also not oblivious to the team’s needs going forward and have already made some plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has provided an update on these plans made by Barcelona, as it claims that the Catalans are no longer looking to sign a striker to bring cover for Robert Lewandowski or even to sign a winger, and will look to add only a midfielder and a defender in this window.

Previously, the signing of a striker was being considered a priority for the Blaugranes. However, the report claims that the club now believes that Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo are more than enough to cover for the Pole. Both of them can play as false 9s, as one is primarily a winger and the other a midfielder.

Similarly, the Catalan club’s priority last summer was to sign a winger, and they were linked very closely with the Athletic Club forward Nico Williams. However, this is no longer the club’s plan, as they believe this is not the time to sign him, especially as they will have to pay his €60 million release clause.

Thus, the Catalans will invest mostly on a midfielder and a defender. To reinforce their defence, Barcelona will look primarily for a new right-back, but can also decide to sign a centre-back, especially if one of their current centre-backs leaves.

Thus, the Blaugrana club’s plans for the next summer seem to have changed significantly, and they will also have to take care of FFP to ensure they can register their new players without any problems.
