Barcelona to wait on Luis Diaz

Sport reports that Barcelona still hope to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool. They've been linked with him for a long, long time now and grew even stronger in this transfer window.

Their failure to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao leaves Diaz as far and away their priority target on the left flank.

At the same time, however, they recognise that there's no chance of Liverpool wanting to do transfer business right now. It could be some time before their attention turns back towards that.

Again, that's recognised here by Barcelona. While maybe it's a matter of days, depending on how Liverpool decide to move forward, they understand that it could comfortably be August before talks resume.

That's only right, and a nice gesture from Barcelona to hold off as long as it takes here. As we say, it's an impossible situation to navigate smoothly and while Liverpool will try to return to 'normal', that will take time.
