Although the winter transfer window is still some way away, Barcelona remain attentive to all activity around them. The sporting department continues to monitor the football landscape closely in order to anticipate future needs and avoid losing ground to other clubs.

Meetings between agents and club executives are part of daily operations, allowing both sides to exchange information, understand upcoming market movements, and lay a foundation that may later prove decisive.

Deco meets with Ceccarelli

Now, SPORT reports that one such meeting took place during Barcelona’s recent trip to London, just before facing Chelsea, in the Park Hyatt Thames Hotel.

The sporting department, led by director Deco, took advantage of being in a city where many agents and sporting directors are concentrated to hold several informal conversations.

One of those interactions saw Deco meet with Italian agent Alessio Ceccarelli, from World Soccer Agency (WSA). The meeting was relaxed and had no specific agenda other than catching up and exchanging impressions.

Ceccarelli manages the careers of several players established in top leagues. Among them is Moise Kean, Fiorentina’s striker and one of the agency’s most recognisable names.

The Italian agent also represents Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal’s current left-back who arrived from Bologna.

However, the report states that the meeting did not revolve around any particular player. It was a routine contact typical of the club’s internal workings.

Deco has already dismissed the idea of a January signing at Barcelona, but plans are being drafted for the summer transfer window.

As reported earlier, the Catalans intend to sign a new striker to replace Robert Lewandowski, a left-footed centre-back for the long term, and a versatile winger.
