Barcelona’s plan to return to the Spotify Camp Nou this season has failed to materialise and the Catalans were expected to be back in their home stadium at the beginning of next season.

Earlier this month, however, reports surfaced that it would be complicated to return for the opening game of the 2025-26 season as well with a more realistic return date being a few months into the campaign.

While the repeated delays are indeed frustrating, work is underway in full swing at the venue and Mundo Deportivo bring the latest update from the stadium under renovation.

Greenery to return soon

As relayed by the outlet, work is being carried out on the third-level stands and a temporary scaffolding has also been applied to install the required lighting, connectivity and cameras for match days.

While the work on the stands is undoubtedly making tangible progress, there is also a promising report for the part of the stadium that is highlighted the most – the playing lawn.

The grass for the lawn will reportedly be planted next week and the greenery will thus return to the Spotify Camp Nou over the course of the next few months.

After all, the drainage, ventilation and other basic requirements of the field have already been prepared.

Over 3500 workers are currently offering their services at the Spotify Camp Nou to complete its renovation at the earliest and work is being conducted 24 hours a day during weekdays with ten hours of work even on Saturdays.

Needless to say, the dream stadium inches closer towards a partial reopening with every passing day.
