Barcelona staff believe team is missing key winger’s presence following recent slump

According to an update shared by Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that Barcelona are badly missing Raphinha on the pitch, as the winger’s absence has left a noticeable gap in the team.

It must be noted that Raphinha is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury in his right thigh.

Without him, Barça have clearly lacked someone who can lead the squad, bring intensity, and contribute directly to goals and assists, particularly in the big games.

Numbers to prove his worth

Raphinha’s absence has already been felt in the three games he has missed this season, with Barcelona losing two of them, against PSG and Sevilla.

For what it is worth, his importance is evident not just in results but in his consistent contributions.

Of the 60 games played in the 2024-2025 campaign, Raphinha featured in 57, either scoring or assisting in 34 of those matches.

This includes contributions in 11 Champions League matches, 19 in La Liga, three in the Copa del Rey, and one in the Spanish Super Cup.

Missing a key piece

Raphinha’s influence extends beyond numbers. He was decisive in key games last season, especially against Bayern Munich, Benfica, both matches against Borussia Dortmund, and both fixtures against Inter.

Furthermore, he also played a key role in all the clashes against Real Madrid, Espanyol, and Atletico Madrid.

Last season, he scored 34 goals and provided 26 assists, and in the current campaign, he has already added three goals and two assists.

Beyond his statistics, Raphinha brings leadership to Barcelona’s dressing room.

His presence with the armband commands respect and those close to the dressing room insist, “When he wears the armband, it shows.”

Raphinha’s contribution has been invaluable, and until he returns, Barcelona will continue to feel the void of a player who can influence both results and morale in equal measure.
