An out-of-favour member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona is all set to join La Liga rivals Girona.
That’s according to a number of sources across the Spanish media, who point towards Oriol Romeu as the player in question.
The subject of midfielder Romeu’s future has of course proven a major talking point in Catalunya’s capital across the summer to date.
This comes after widespread reports pointed towards new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick as having come to a surprise decision on the place of the 32-year-old in his squad.
After Romeu fell heavily out-of-favour under the watch of Xavi last season, the assumption was that he was set to be shipped out at the earliest opportunity.
In turn, it came as nothing short of a shock when claims mounted that Flick had come to the conclusion that the former Southampton man would be going nowhere this summer.
But now, late on Friday, yet another twist in the tale has been revealed.
As per the likes of Marca and RAC1, Romeu has departed Barcelona’s camp in the USA.
This comes with the deep-lying midfielder having agreed to make the move back to former club Girona, on loan for the season ahead.
