The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have reached an agreement to renew the contract of defender Gerard Martín.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Left-back Martín has of course emerged as a regular in the first-team picture at Barcelona across the season to date.
After catching the eye of the incoming Hansi Flick, the 22-year-old has been afforded ten appearances across all competitions, including a trio of La Liga starts.
And evidently, across these outings, Martín has done enough to prove to those in a position of power at the Camp Nou of his readiness to contribute in the long-term.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Barça have reached an agreement to close the renewal of Gerard Martín. The former CE Cornellà player will extend his contract until June 2028, extending his relationship for three more years.’
The renewal, which will be announced imminently, includes a new €100 million release clause.
