The brass at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are giving serious consideration to a summer move for Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski.

This of course comes amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of the Pole.

Frontman Lewandowski is for his part, as things stand, primed to depart Barcelona upon the close of the campaign.

The former Bayern Munich man is due to see his contract terms at the Camp Nou expire, meaning he will be available as a free agent.

Less than six months out from as much, rival clubs are now fully within their rights to touch base with Lewandowski’s entourage, to gauge interest in a joining of forces for next season.

And as alluded to above, this week, one such suitor are understood to have done precisely that.

As per a report from Fichajes, citing El Desmarque:

‘Atlético de Madrid have already made a move. At the Metropolitano, they are considering signing a veteran striker on a free transfer, repeating a formula that has proven successful in the past.’

The ‘success’ referred to most recently saw Luis Suárez swap Barcelona for Atlético, before lifting the La Liga title in the colours of the Rojiblancos.
