Barcelona star could celebrate La Liga milestone with an appearance against Valencia | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are set to face Valencia tonight, on Sunday, in their fourth game of the 2026-27 season. They won all three of their previous games this season, and will be looking to continue with their winning run to get a three-point advantage over their rivals, Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick is expected to once again field quite a strong lineup for this game, but there are still some doubts about which players he will start the match with. One of the candidates to make his way into the starting eleven would be the newly signed midfielder Rodri Hernandez, who has not yet started a game for his new team.

While it remains to be seen whether he would start or would get minutes off the bench, as he has done in the last two games, Mundo Deportivo notes that the match against Valencia will be a special one for him if he steps onto the pitch. With this appearance, he will reach the 100-game mark in La Liga.

He has played 99 games in the top Spanish division till now in his career. Of these 99 matches, 63 came with Villarreal in three years, 34 with Atletico Madrid in one year, and the remaining two with Barcelona, against Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano.

For the starting role against Valencia, he will have to compete with the likes of Pedri and Marc Bernal, while the youngster Brian Farinas will also be available to Hansi Flick. On the other hand, Frenkie de Jong is unavailable as he is still recovering from the injury he suffered during the World Cup.

There is no doubt that Rodri Hernandez will be keen to start the game against Valencia, and also cement a starting role in the team going forward. Hopefully, he will be able to mark this special event with a win tonight.
