A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has emerged as a transfer target on the part of Premier League giants Liverpool.
That’s according to Fichajes, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.
Stopper Araújo is for his part considered a potential candidate to depart Barcelona in the near future.
This comes with the Uruguayan understood to be disappointed with his current role in Hansi Flick’s squad.
After the summer departure of Iñigo Martínez, Araújo was expected to slot into a first-choice role for the season ahead.
The 26-year-old, though, has since featured in just two of Barcelona’s four La Liga outings to date.
Should his playing time not improve over the weeks and months ahead, it is understood that Araújo could in turn seek out a departure.
And as alluded to above, in the case of as much, the defender could have one of European football’s standout clubs as a suitor.
As per a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, English champions Liverpool, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at the back, have set their sights on Araújo.
The Reds, it is claimed, would be willing to splash out a sum in the region of €50 million to land the South American.
