FC Barcelona experienced one of the most emotional moments of their game against Sevilla when Gavi finally made his long-awaited return from injury, and the reaction inside the stadium said everything about how much the midfielder means to the club.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona midfielder stepped back onto the pitch after 203 days out, entering the match in the 82nd minute to a thunderous ovation from the crowd. As soon as he appeared on the touchline, supporters began chanting his name, creating one of the loudest moments of the night.
The return carried an added layer of emotion when Ronald Araujo handed Gavi the captain’s armband shortly after he came on. The gesture even surprised Hansi Flick, who later admitted it had not been planned beforehand and was likely an initiative taken by Araujo.
For Gavi, it marked his first appearance since August 23, 2025, when he last played against Levante UD in La Liga. The Spain international later underwent surgery to resolve a meniscus problem in his right knee, forcing him into another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
When he finally stepped onto the pitch against Sevilla, the 21-year-old academy graduate immediately showed the same energy and determination that have defined his rise at Barcelona.
Despite playing only the final minutes of the match, he pressed aggressively, fought for possession, and approached every action with the same intensity that has made him one of the most beloved figures among the Culers.
For Barcelona, his comeback is a massive boost heading into a decisive stretch of the season. But beyond the sporting implications, this was about something more human. After months of frustration and recovery work, Gavi was back where he belongs and doing what he loves the most, and Camp Nou made sure he felt every bit of that love.
