A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona was afforded a standing ovation upon making his way from the field of play on Tuesday.
The player in question? Pedri.
Midfielder Pedri was for his part back in from the off on the international front this evening.
This came as Spain rounded out their efforts for the October break in a World Cup qualifying fixture against Bulgaria.
When all was said and done, Luis de la Fuente’s troops emerged dominant victors, by four goals to nil.
Arsenal star Mikel Merino grabbed the bulk of the headlines following the full-time whistle, after netting two of Spain’s four goals.
It was the aforementioned Pedri, though, who proved in the eyes of most the true standout performer.
The Barcelona man controlled proceedings from his berth in the middle of the park, courtesy of trademark poise, guile and sheer individual brilliance.
And as alluded to above, such endeavours were aptly recognised during the 2nd-half.
This came upon Pedri’s number flashing across the 4th official’s board, giving rise to a stadium-wide standing ovation:
