Barcelona star ‘had been hinting’ to teammates that he was set to leave for several days | OneFootball

Barcelona star Ronald Araújo appears to have been aware of his imminent departure from the club well in advance of last night’s bombshell reports.

Stopper Araújo has of course dominated the headlines across not only Spain, but England too over the last 24 hours. This comes after word was forthcoming that the Uruguayan has agreed to take his talents to Premier League giants Liverpool.

Araújo will spend the duration of the upcoming season at Anfield, with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer of 2027.

The news, upon its emergence, was considered nothing short of a shock, ahead of a year in which the 27-year-old was expected to work towards wrestling back a starting berth in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona backline.

As alluded to above, though, developments towards the transfer appear to have been ongoing behind the scenes throughout the week to date.

As per a report from Blaugrana insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:

‘Ronald Araújo had been hinting to some teammates for a couple of days that he was about to leave Barça.’
