A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has maintained the best passing percentage of any player in his role across the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup to date.

The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.

Barca standout De Jong was for his part back in from the off on the international front once more this past weekend.

This came as the Netherlands welcomed Finland to Amsterdam for a World Cup qualifier.

And en route to a 4-0 rout, the former Ajax man shone bright from his berth in the middle of the park, controlling proceedings with trademark quality and poise.

Come the full-time whistle in the clash, De Jong had managed a thoroughly impressive 94% passing accuracy.

And yet, across the Dutch qualification campaign to date, the 28-year-old has actually maintained an even better pass percentage.

As per a report from statisticians WhoScored:

‘Frenkie de Jong has the highest pass accuracy (95%) of all midfielders in the UEFA World Cup qualifiers (400+ mins).’
