Barcelona star offered new contract with reduced wages | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has been offered a new contract with the club.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.

Those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou have long been hard at work to tie De Jong down for the long-term.

After the former Ajax man enjoyed something of a rebirth under the watch of Hansi Flick last season, Deco and co. quickly got to work to extend his terms beyond their current expiration in the summer of 2026.

And as alluded to above, late this week, an insight into the offer understood to have been put before De Jong by Barca has been revealed.

The info comes courtesy of MD, who have confirmed that:

‘Barça are offering him a new contract for this season and two more, until June 2028, which could be extended to 2029, but with lower financial parameters. The club is calm because they see the player as willing to accept it.’
