FC Barcelona fans will be keenly awaiting this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, which is going to be held in Paris on Monday, because several of their players have been named among the final shortlist of players nominated to win arguably the biggest individual prize in European football.
Their former winger and the current PSG star, Ousmane Dembele, is expected to win the big prize, but still, Hansi Flick recently confirmed that the club would travel to Paris for the ceremony.
In addition to Flick himself and first team players like Yamal, Raphinha, and Pau Cubarsi, several members of the board and the women’s team will also be attending the gala.
However, according to SPORT, one notable name who will not be attending this ceremony is the midfielder Pedri. The Canarian has made this decision not to travel to France as he is prioritizing rest in order to remain fully fit for the upcoming matches for Barcelona.
Keeping in view the very high level at which he has played for the last several months and his importance in the team, he has not had a lot of rest, and matches are also coming in succession in the coming weeks.
So far this season, he has played in all the games and rested only for 9 minutes, in the match against Valencia when it was already settled.
With the way he is playing, he can win more than one Ballon d’Or in the future, but for now, Pedri wants to continue prioritizing his sporting commitments and helping Barcelona achieve their objectives of the season.
