Barcelona star responds to claims that he does not gel with Rodri | OneFootball

Barcelona star Pedri has moved to shut down any and all suggestions that he and new teammate Rodri cannot coexist on the pitch alongside one another.

Following his summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital, Rodri is for his part fresh off taking to the pitch as a starter in Barcelona colours for the first time on Sunday.

En route to a 5-0 romp at Valencia, the 30-year-old featured from the off at the base of the Blaugrana engine room. Alongside him was the aforementioned Pedri, who shone bright across the 90 minutes, even chipping in with his first goal of the campaign.

This proved an early step towards rebuffing claims on the part of some that Rodri and Pedri’s characteristics are not suitable in the same midfield.

After the latter was dropped from his role as a starter whilst Rodri dazzled at this summer’s World Cup, it was murmured that the pair may struggle to gel at club level this season, too.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Barca’s latest dominant triumph on Sunday, Pedri therefore moved to assure:

“People say that Rodri and I do not understand each other, but playing with him is very comfortable. He rarely loses the ball and helps a great deal in defence. We will get to know each other better, and with more matches, we will become better.”
