Barcelona star Raphinha has beaten out the competition to secure the opening Player of the Month award of the season in Spain’s top-flight.

This of course comes fresh off nothing short of a spectacular individual start to the campaign for the Brazilian.

Barcelona, as a collective, have looked close to unstoppable over the term’s early weeks, racking up five goals in four of their matches across all competitions to date.

And Raphinha, after being afforded both the captain’s armband and a new central position in Hansi Flick’s frontline, has been arguably the standout Blaugrana performer.

In five appearances between La Liga and the Champions League, the former Leeds United man has racked up a remarkable nine direct goal contributions.

Five of his goals, as well as an assist, came in league play in August, enough for Raphinha on Friday to officially beat out the competition to the Player of the Month prize:
