Barcelona are likely to drop back out of La Liga’s 1:1 rule next summer, given their income will drop significant due to being forced to vacate the Spotify Camp Nou. Thus, they will need to be smart in the transfer market once again, and this could mean they decide to sell players in order to sign their desired targets.

A number of players have been linked with moves away in recent weeks, namely Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde. Another player that is no longer considered to be a regular starter is Dani Olmo, and his possible exit is one that would arguably make the most sense for Barcelona.

Fermin Lopez has displaced Olmo as the regular starter in the no.10 position, and with Ebrima Tunkara expected to make the step up to the first team sooner rather than later, there may soon be no space for the former RB Leipzig man. Thus, an exit could be considered in 2027, and there is notable interest being shown in his services.

As per reports in Germany (via El Nacional), Bayern Munich are showing interest in Olmo, whom they want to sign amid concerns over the long-term futures of Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala. The Bavarians are reportedly willing to pay €80m to get a deal done, and this would represent a nice profit on the €60m Barcelona spent to re-sign him from Leipzig two summers ago.

Olmo transfer decision will depend on Tunkara’s development

It would be pretty harsh for Olmo to be moved on by Barcelona, especially considering he has been in good form to start the season. However, he has generally been inconsistent since returning in 2024, which is why Fermin is ahead of him in the pecking order.

Ultimately, any decision to sell Olmo is likely to be made in consideration with Tunkara’s situation. Barcelona have very high hopes for the teenager, who could be fast-tracked into the senior squad if he impresses for Barca Atletic over the coming months – and when he does make the step up, Olmo’s place would be under threat.
