A member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could bring a temporary pause to his retirement from international football over the months ahead.
The player in question? Wojciech Szczęsny.
Shot-stopper Szczęsny is of course fresh off enjoying a return to prominence in the world of football this past season.
After stepping out of retirement to pen terms with the aforementioned Barcelona, the former Arsenal and Juventus man went on to play a leading role in the Blaugrana clinching a domestic treble.
Szczęsny has since extended his Camp Nou stay, by way of a contract extension through the summer of 2027.
This means that, at the least, the 35-year-old still has a couple of years remaining at the top level of the game.
Speaking during an interview with Przegląd Sportowy (as cited by Diario Sport) this week, new Poland national team boss Jan Urban was therefore drawn on the possibility of Szczęsny returning to the international stage, too.
And Urban refused to rule out as much, in responding:
“Life brings us different scenarios, so we have to be prepared for everything,”
