Barcelona star to be left out of squad vs Valencia | OneFootball

One member of the squad called upon by La Liga giants Barcelona for their upcoming meeting with Valencia will be omitted from the club’s official matchday list. This comes owing to an overbooking in Hansi Flick’s setup.

Barca are of course primed to return to action on Sunday, making the trip to Mestalla with sights on a fourth successive victory to open the defence of their La Liga title.

As is customary, the Catalans, in turn, unveiled their travelling party for the fixture online on Saturday afternoon:

As alluded to above, though, for one member of this squad, disappointment awaits… Hansi Flick’s call-up to face Valencia features 24 players, owing to the presence of the returning Gavi, and summer signing Gabriel Jesus.

And according to a report from journalist Sergi Capdevila, as a result:

‘Flick faces his 1st painful decision of the season. With Gavi and Gabriel Jesus okay, he has 24 players available and only 23 can enter the squad list. First discard of the season incoming due to ‘overbooking’.’
